How to do an Email Mail Merge

There are various ways to do an Email Mail Merge.  What this means is that you can send out hundreds of individually addressed emails with the actual emails also having the contents changed according to information contained in a data base or an Excel spreadsheet.

While you can use Gmail, Word or Open Office and other similar programs to do this, I am going to show you how to use Mozilla Thunderbird (or Seamonkey which is Firefox and Thunderbird combined in a single program).  Why them? Well, Thunderbird and Seamonkey work everywhere - on Windows, Macs, Linux and even OS/2. However, if you wish to use your Gmail account directly, here is one easy way to do it: http://www.labnol.org/software/mail-merge-with-gmail/13289/

What do we need to do?

1.  Download and install Thunderbird or Seamonkey.  Thunderbird can be downloaded here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and Seamonkey here; http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/

2. Install the Email Mail Merge from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/mail-merge/ or here: https://gustavus.edu/gts/Thunderbird_mail_merge#Install_the_Mail_Merge_Add_on or here:
